The Remedy Cabinet***

Taste ancestral remedies, explore the wisdom passed down through our kitchens, and carry a little of that care forward this fall. Honey. Ginger. Peppermint. Lemon. Cinnamon. Elderberry. Echinacea. That jar in the back nobody measured anything from. Maybe your grandmother made something at the first sign of a seasonal sniffle. Maybe your auntie always had peppermint nearby. Maybe somebody handed you a cup of something, told you to drink it, and absolutely refused to provide the recipe. The Remedy Cabinet is a cozy, interactive gathering exploring the herbs, foods and household traditions people have reached for across generations and what we understand about them today. We'll open the cabinet together. We'll smell and explore familiar herbs, share the remedies and rituals we remember, talk about why certain ingredients became household staples, and add some evidence-informed herbal education to the wisdom that was passed down. And yes, there will be tasting. Taste Rising Sun's Berry Radiant Elderberry Syrup, try a refreshing Echinacea Lemonade, explore herbs up close, and begin thinking about what deserves a place in your modern remedy cabinet. This isn't about diagnosing yourself or replacing your healthcare. It's about reconnecting with everyday plant knowledge, asking better questions, and remembering that wellness knowledge didn't begin on a store shelf. Come curious. Bring your stories. Let's open the cabinet. What we will do: • Explore familiar herbs and pantry ingredients such as ginger, honey, peppermint, cinnamon, elderberry, echinacea and more. We'll talk about traditional uses, what current evidence can, and cannot, tell us, and practical considerations for using herbs responsibly. • Share community memory. What did your family reach for? What did they make? What did they call it? What ingredient seemed to appear whenever somebody wasn't feeling their best?Bring the stories, even if you have absolutely no idea what was actually in that mystery concoction. • Taste elderberry syrup prepared with Rising Sun's Berry Radiant herbal blend and learn how the loose-leaf blend can be transformed into a simple at-home syrup. • Enjoy a taste of warm Echinacea Lemonade while we explore herbs beyond the supplement aisle - what part of the plant is used, how preparations differ, and some of the considerations that matter when choosing herbal products. • See, smell, touch and compare herbs. Instead of only talking about herbs on a screen, we'll spend some time actually getting acquainted with the plants and ingredients we're discussing. • You'll leave with a simple guide for thinking through the herbs and pantry staples you may want to learn more about and keep on hand, including basic preparation and safety considerations. This isn't about having everything. It's about knowing the things you choose to keep.
