AI is moving fast, and so is the pressure to ship. In government and civic tech, that pressure collides with some of the most complex, high-stakes user bases: people navigating benefits systems, public services, and civic life, often with little margin for error. This panel is about slowing down to ask the question that's easiest to skip: who are we actually building for, and are we building it well? We'll dig into what it means to design and build technology that creates real impact in government and civic contexts in the age of AI — where good intentions aren't enough, the users are skeptical, and the consequences of getting it wrong fall on people who can least afford it.
