Black Girl Group Chat

A safe space for meaningful conversations, focused on protecting and supporting black women Black Girl Group Chats is a free 18+ community gathering created for Black women, Black femmes, and Black community members to talk, laugh, listen, and be real in a space that centers us. This month’s topic is The Strong Black Woman Is Tired. We’re talking about strength, burnout, rest, emotional labor, workplace pressure, caretaking, and the right to be supported. We’ll make space for the pressure to over-function, the difficulty of asking for help, the expectations around being professional, and the deep need for softness, friendship support, therapy, and rest without guilt. This conversation also asks a Utah-specific question: what does burnout look like when you may already feel like the only one in the room? Black Girl Group Chats is designed as an ongoing conversation, but each gathering stands on its own. Join us for one topic or return throughout the series: • July 15 — What We Inherited, What We’re Rewriting • August 19 — The Strong Black Woman Is Tired • September 16 — Belonging, Code-Switching, and Being Seen • October 21 — Beauty, Bodies, Hair, and the Politics of Being Perceived This is not a lecture. It is a guided community conversation with room to branch, reflect, laugh, and connect. Lite snacks will be provided, and guests are welcome to bring something small to share potluck-style if they would like. Self-serve non-alcoholic drinks will be available. This is an alcohol-free event. Guests must be 18 years or older to attend. RSVP is encouraged so we can plan seating, snacks, and drinks. Space is limited to 30 guests.
