First Responder READY, Preparing for Lithium ion Safety & Emergencies

A 1.5-day in-person Salt Lake City training on Oct. 19–20 covers lithium battery safety and emergency response. First Responder READY is an in-person training for professionals preparing to manage lithium battery safety and emergencies. Training overview Preparing for Lithium Battery Management, Safety, and Emergency Response takes place October 19–20, 2026, at the Utah Transit Authority (UTA) conference room in Salt Lake City. The one-and-a-half-day program includes education, incident planning, SOP review, and a panel discussion led by Captain Richard Birt and participating partners. Who should attend Agency leaders and decision-makers; first responders; emergency managers; facility and safety professionals; fleet and maintenance teams; and towing, recovery, and salvage professionals. Schedule • Monday, October 19: 9 a.m.–5 p.m. • Tuesday, October 20: 8 a.m.–noon All times are Mountain Time. Purpose and training goal Batteries are everywhere.
