You read the room before you read anything else. You knew which mood meant walk carefully. You got good at managing other people’s feelings because somebody had to, and the somebody was you, and you were nine. That child did a job no child should have been given. And they’re still on shift. It’s why you apologize when someone bumps into you. Why you can feel a friend’s disappointment from three rooms away. Why rest feels like something you have to earn and never quite do. The competence everyone admires in you was built out of a kid’s attempt to keep the peace. This evening we go find them and tell them they can stop. Setting down what was never yours to carry is not the same as becoming careless. It’s the difference between helping because you want to and helping because you’re afraid of what happens if you don’t. Breath will take you to the weight itself, to where you hold it in your body, and we practice putting it down. Not forever, not perfectly. Just long enough for your system to learn that nothing collapses when you do. How the night runs Davina guide you through a SOMA Breathwork journey, rhythmic music guided breath that moves you into a deep, natural altered state. Live sound moves through the room. Christine offers Reiki as you breathe, so for ninety minutes you’re the one being taken care of. New to the series? Come anyway. You don’t need to have been at the first session. Each night stands on its own, and you’ll be guided from wherever you are. A note on timing This one lands the Friday before Thanksgiving. If you’re heading into a holiday with the people you learned this role around, it’s a good way to prepare yourself to set some of it down before you walk in. What to expect Emotional release, nervous system regulation, grief that may surprise you, and a real sense of relief. Tears are welcome. So are laughter, shaking, and silence. Nothing is asked of you except that you keep breathing. No breathwork experience needed. Eat lightly, ideally an hour or two before. Good to know Breathwork is a physical practice.
