Full description from organizer

An intimate evening of Franz Liszt’s songs with tenor Jacob Kenison and pianist Lawrence Gee. Free admission, one hour, all welcome. O lieb: The Songs of Franz Liszt Jacob Kenison, tenor | Lawrence Gee, piano Tenor Jacob Kenison and pianist Lawrence Gee present an intimate evening of songs by Franz Liszt, including some of his most renowned vocal works such as "Pace non trovo," "Die Loreley," and "Oh! quand je dors." Jacob will be taking this same program to the Los Angeles International Liszt Competition the following week. Franz Liszt is remembered as one of the most influential composers and pianists of the Romantic period. What many don't know is that he composed over eighty songs for voice and piano, setting poetry in German, French, Italian, Hungarian, and English. Liszt loved to re-work his material, so many of these compositions exist in two, three, or even more versions or settings. The melody most people recognize as the third of his three piano nocturnes Liebesträume, began as "O lieb, so lang du lieben kannst," a setting of an 1829 poem by German writer Ferdinand Freiligrath. Come enjoy music that you rarely get the chance to hear. Admission is free and everyone is welcome. The program runs about an hour with no intermission. About Jacob Kenison A Utah native, Jacob Kenison began performing at a young age, appearing as both a soloist and ensemble member with the Salt Lake Children’s Choir from the age of eight and singing with Kurt Bestor and other renowned artists both on stage and in the recording studio. In prior years, Jacob has placed first in the MTNA National Auditions, Young Artist division, and third in the NATS National Student Auditions, Advanced Classical division. He currently studies with his teacher of nearly ten years, Lawrence Gee. About Lawrence Gee Lawrence Gee served as Assistant Conductor at New York City Opera during the Beverly Sills era, an experience that shaped a lifelong devotion to coaching and collaborating with singers. His own training came from Stanley Hummel, Joseph Rezits, and the celebrated soprano Camilla Williams, who broke the color line at New York City Opera in 1946.
