Learn how to social dance and show your moves from America's swing jazz era! Featuring a live swing band, George Prado and Swing City! Step back into the golden age of American jazz and join us for Wednesday Night Swing, a weekly social dance celebrating the music and dances of the Swing Era! Wednesday Night Swing is your weekly invitation to step onto the dance floor and experience one of America's greatest art forms: Lindy Hop. Born in the ballrooms and dance halls of the late 1920s, Lindy Hop was the heartbeat of the Swing Era, those golden years when Big Band leaders like Count Basie, Duke Ellington, and Benny Goodman rose to prominence and everybody who heard them was dancing. ACSR is keeping this American tradition alive. What to expect: Before the social dance kicks off, we'll have a beginner lesson taught at 7pm by some of San Antonio's best Lindy Hop instructors. It's low-pressure, it's fun, and you will leave knowing more than you walked in with. After the lesson, the floor opens up for open dancing where total beginners and longtime dancers share the same space and rotate partners throughout the night. The floor becomes a place where you can look a little goofy learning a new move and absolutely nobody cares, because everyone here was a beginner at one point. Some stuff to know: • No partner needed. • Wear comfortable, closed-toed shoes (leave the spiked heels at home). • Dress however you like. Jeans, vintage fits, suit and tie, or a rotation of shirts to sweat in. • All attendees sign a waiver at the door. • Zero tolerance for harassment. Alamo City Swing Revival has been bringing San Antonio's swing dance community together since 2016 as a 501(c)(7) nonprofit. Every dollar goes right back to the dancers.
