El Niño and San Diego: What to Expect

NOAA is forecasting that the coming El Niño could be among the strongest on record. UC San Diego's Scripps Institution of Oceanography has a long history of researching, tracking and understanding El Niño events and impacts. For San Diego Climate Week, Scripps Institution of Oceanography is bringing together a group of leading experts to talk about the science of El Niño, the latest technology scientists are deploying to track and detect this event, and the potential impacts to San Diego — from shifts in weather to effects on our ocean ecosystems and coastlines. Scientists will also share information on El Niño connections to climate change and how the event is giving society a look into our climate future.
