Holiday Lights Bike Ride

Kensington Community Association is hosting the annual Holiday Lights Bike Ride! Join us to light up Kensington on Sunday, December 13th. Details The family-friendly holiday event begins at 4:00 pm at Terrace Drive Mini Park in Kensington (near 4734 Terrace Drive) next to Ponce’s Mexican Restaurant. Decorate your bike with provided decorations starting at 4:00 pm. The ride will begin at 5 pm. Bikes with pedals only, helmets are required, no strider bikes or scooters. The course is NOT closed to cars. The Route The 2.5 mile route is open to everyone, but we ask that comfortable bike riders and people who would like to take a faster-paced ride around the neighborhood go first. Familes who want a slower-paced ride, and riders 8 years of age or younger, are asked to follow behind the first group. The route will be marked by signs. Volunteers will be positioned along the route to guide the riders. A safety vehicle will lead the route with another safety vehicle at the rear. RULES • There will be a leading car for the route and all participants must stay behind the leading car. • Each participant must watch and beware of all oncoming and trailing traffic, including bikes, other vehicles, and cars or trucks. Each participant must provide their own bicycle lights as they determine are needed for themselves. • Families with young children are encouraged to pre-ride the route on their own before the Activity to determine their own safety needs. Again, this course is NOT closed to cars, SUVs, trucks, other bicycles or pedestrians. • The Activity will have safety volunteers wearing fluorescent vests to direct riders. ALL participants must follow the direction of safety volunteers. • All participants must keep right for cars that will be passing group and be respectful of all local pedestrian traffic and neighborhood civility. • All family participants are responsible for knowing and managing the location of minor children or any person with disabilities. • If you lose the group, find your way back to the park to meet us at the end.
