Please Read First. We've become too accustomed to the throw-away lifestyle. If something breaks, we replace it with a new one. This behavior is filling our landfills at an alarming rate, and electronic waste is now one of the biggest sources of pollution. So why not learn how to fix things instead?! Bring your broken, non-working items—electronics, appliances, computers, toys, bicycles, clothes, and more—for assessment, disassembly, and possible repair. We'll provide a workspace, specialty tools, and guidance to help you disassemble and troubleshoot your item. Even if we can't fix it, you'll learn more about how it was made and how it works. This event is fun for the whole family, so bring your kids! We are expanding rapidly and will host events all over San Diego County. We hope to see you there! Must arrive before 2:30 p.m. • Saturday, Oct 17th - Point Loma/Hervey Library (noon to 3 p.m.). Must arrive before 2:30 p.m. • Saturday, Nov 7th- Skyline Hills Library (noon to 3 p.m.). Must arrive before 2:30 p.m. • Saturday, Nov 21st -Pacific Beach Library (noon to 3 p.m.). Must arrive before 2:30 p.m. • Saturday, Jan 9th - Park de la Cruz Recreation Center (noon to 3 p.m.). Please bring ONE item that needs repair. We will do our best to resolve the problem, but not every case will be successful. Additional items brought in will be listed as walk-ins and serviced on a case-by-case basis. How can I get up-to-date information? We love showing off our community's skills. I RSVP'D, and now I am not sure I can attend. What should I do? If you're unsure about attending, please cancel your RSVP at least three days in advance to give others a chance to reserve a spot. Or email us at [email protected] and let us know. **Too many no-shows attached to your email address will result in no more allowances to pre-rsvp and you must attend as a walk-in.** Please note: no-shows can cause a severe issue when planning future programs regarding venues, volunteers, and location. We know this is a free event, but please give us the common courtesy and let us know if you cannot attend. Will you accept walk-ins? We will accept walk-ins if there is time, but it depends on how quickly we can repair the registered attendees' items. Do you take donations of tools and supplies? Oh boy, do we. If you have any old tools you no longer need, please bring them to the next SD Fixit Clinic or email us at [email protected] to arrange drop-off locations. Does this cost money? This event is free to attend, but it is not a drop-off-and-fix event. Instead, it is a hands-on event where participants can learn how to repair their items with the help of our expert coaches. __________________________________________ Por favor, lea primero.
