The Descent - A Guided Journey to the Underworld & Back THE DESCENT A Guided Journey to the Underworld and Back In the oldest story we have of a woman who goes down before she rises, Ishtar removes one more piece of herself at every gate — until nothing is left but who she is underneath it all. This is that journey. You will not be asked to become more. You will be asked to lay something down. The Descent is a 90-minute guided inner journey inspired by the ancient story of Inanna/Ishtar and her passage through seven gates into the underworld. Through guided meditation, reflection, inner inquiry and gentle energy work, you will move through seven symbolic gates — each inviting you to release a layer you may no longer need to carry. THE SEVEN GATES Gate One — The Mask Who am I trying to be to the world? Gate Two — The Performance Who am I when I have nothing to prove? Gate Three — The Grip What am I trying to control? Gate Four — The Story What story about myself am I ready to stop carrying? Gate Five — The Armor What shields or protections do I no longer need to carry? Gate Six — The Name Who am I without my stories of who I am? Gate Seven — The Threshold No question. No prompt. Only silence. This is not about fixing yourself or becoming someone new. It is an invitation to soften what has become heavy, meet yourself beneath the roles and stories you carry, and listen for what remains when there is nothing left to prove. The journey ends with a return — reconnecting with yourself, your heart, and what feels true now. WHO THIS IS FOR This workshop is for anyone who feels ready to meet themselves more deeply. You may be in a period of transition, transformation or inner questioning. You may feel that certain identities, roles, patterns or ways of protecting yourself no longer fit. No previous experience with meditation, energy work or spiritual practice is required. WHAT TO EXPECT A 90-minute experiential workshop including guided meditation, reflection, inner inquiry and gentle energy work. The space will be held with care, and you are always invited to participate in the way that feels right for you. ABOUT CECILIA Cecilia Mortimer is a Transformational Guide from Sweden, back in Encinitas for a special evening workshop. Her work brings together intuitive guidance, heart-centered transformation, energy work and more than 20 years of experience in leadership and transformation. She supports people in releasing what no longer serves them, reconnecting with their deeper truth and creating from a more authentic place.
