An Evening with Tea for Escaping Flatland Readers There's a particular kind of conversation that only happens when a small group of people who've each spent real time with an idea sit down together to turn it over out loud. That's what we're hoping to create. Adam and I are hosting a meetup for people who read Henrik Karlsson's Escaping Flatland. Henrik’s writing seems to attract people who are curious in a particular way: people who'd rather follow a good question somewhere unexpected than arrive quickly at a tidy answer. We believe that if we get enough of those people in one room, something more than an "essay club" will happen. Something that extends beyond the confines of 5:30-7:30 on October 8th. Escaping Flatland SF Meetup happened twice before. Huge thanks to Laura and Sakib for hosting these events and bringing us together. Both events reminded us that it's worth talking to people you haven't met yet. We enjoyed listening to group conversations during those gatherings so much and had the pleasure of witnessing people stay way past 9 PM and listening to each other with eyes wide open. We started thinking about a smaller, more intimate setting to interact deeply without the feeling that you were missing out on what was happening across the room. That’s why the third meetup is slower and capped at 24. Familiarity with Henrik's work is required as we will only have two hours together.  We’ll share the pre-selected essays beforehand, and we highly recommend pre-reading them. We'll gather from 5:30 to 6:00 pm for arrivals and meet each other to share beyond what can easily be found on LinkedIn. We'll do a brief workshop on these pre-selected readings independently from 6:00-6:30, and then break into smaller groups for the discussion itself from 6:30 to 7:30pm. This time we're meeting at Kindred Studio, a slow tea house. Tea room admission is $15 for all-you-can-drink tea. Purchasing an admission ticket is required to attend as we will be occupying all available seating area at the studio.
