A community networking event for Bay Area creators to connect, collaborate, and grow. DESCRIPTION: Join us for an evening of community and connection among arts, media, and cultural workers in the Bay. Find new collaborators, spark creative ideas, and grow your network! Drinks and light bites will be provided. The Fall 2026 Building Art Through Community mixer is brought to you in partnership with IAM Affiliate, Street Spirit! ABOUT INDEPENDENT ARTS & MEDIA: IAM's mission is to steward and empower independent art and media projects that foster community and civic participation, and facilitate cultural engagement and free expression. Media, journalism, the arts and culture are all arenas of social interaction and civic engagement. Yet even in the Internet era, these arenas are closed to public participation due to commercial or institutional barriers. We champion media producers and culture makers doing significant work to advance civic engagement and cultural participation in our communities and our democracy. Additional requests? Questions? It is written by and for unhoused people and others who are interested in producing original journalism about the crisis of homelessness, and the issues with which it intersects. We report on the politics and policies that impact our community, and publish personal essays, profiles, and poetry, which illuminate the experience of homelessness with unique intimacy. Our mission is to provide economic opportunity for our homeless neighbors while also creating a platform where they can share their own stories.
