Led by crossover cellist and vocalist Rebecca Roudman, the band combines high-energy blues, rock and Americana, moving from down-home blues and driving rock to fast, stomping roots music. Dirty Cello's official bio describes the group as a genre-bending, high-energy act built around Roudman's cello and powerful vocals. This is not a quiet classical-cello performance. Dirty Cello takes the instrument somewhere else entirely — turning it into a lead voice capable of delivering riffs, solos and the kind of energy normally associated with an electric guitar. Their repertoire has included adventurous takes on rock songs such as “Dream On,” “Roadhouse Blues,” and “The Devil Went Down to Georgia,” alongside original material and roots-driven music.
