Exploring Point Pinole

Join Greenbelt Alliance for a nature and history walk at Point Pinole Regional Shoreline. Point Pinole was once the site of a gunpowder and dynamite plant. We'll view relics of this explosive past and see the area's present-day return to nature, including shoreline marshes, sandy shores, eucalyptus groves, meadows, and a freshwater pond. As we hike, we'll be on the lookout for the many species of waterfowl that visit the park. Total Distance This is a moderate hike of about 4 miles on mostly level trails. Cost The park entrance fee is $5 per vehicle. Where to Meet We will meet at the Atlas Road staging area parking lot. She is inspired by her great-grandmother, who raised her in a little village in India and lived indigenously alongside a forest in a farming community. "The trees are your cousins. Care for them," she often heard her great-gran say. "On the last day of the world, I would plant a tree," are the words from her favorite poem by the US Poet Laureate, M.S Merwin. Archana volunteers as a climate worker for CCL and SL2050. For a living, she is a computer scientist who works in Green Energy Tech.
