Jet Black Pearl + Rosie + Joe

A trio of very unique songwriters share the stage with intimate sets of original music... The untamed and inimitable Jet Black Pearl from the port of Amsterdam spent many years in the south of France before settling in Portland in 2014. She has performed on more than a thousand stages all over the world. Intelligently zany, her songs sound like a mad hatter's European tea party with a hip hop attitude. She creates grooves and mesmerizing layers of flute, plastic bottles, vocal percussion and harmonies all while squeezing one hot accordion. Rosie Steffy (of Oakland trio La Dee Da) welcomes you to a piano-pop dreamworld with ethereal vocals, humor and insight that sparkle into song. Shifting and cinematic, her music moves from hypnotizing to rockin with whimsy and style compared to Regina Spektor. She has collaborated on countless albums as a back-up vocalist, and released original songs in bands such as Whiskey and Women, Upside Drown, and Wordsky. Rosie currently performs as drummer and singer in the Dogweeds and Tall Grass, and helps curate local DIY music events. Joe Rosato Jr. is a San Francisco singer-songwriter with a long, varied career in music. He plays upright bass with Bay Area Turkish band Lars and in Charge, and has toured Europe on bass with blues legends Fillmore Slim and Sugar Pie DeSanto. As a composer he’s scored films featured in the Smithsonian Institute as well as Toronto and Tribeca film festivals. He's released two solo albums as a songwriter; The Downtown Church and Compass & Sparrow. Tickets are $20 general admission; a limited number of discounted tickets ($15) are available.
