Presidio to Lands End via Bluffs and 3 Beaches Hike - 7.9 miles, 1000 ft elev

Details We will be doing a moderately strenuous urban loop hike in San Francisco, starting and ending just outside of the Presidio at Richmond Playground (18th Ave and Lake St). This hike is for INTERMEDIATE HIKERS only. The 7.9 mile trek will offer wonderful views of the Presidio and Lands End as we traverse wooded paths and cliffs that tower above the Golden Gate and Pacific Ocean, stopping at 3 scenic beaches along the way. THIS EVENT HAS A WAITLIST. DO NOT SHOW UP FOR IT UNLESS YOU HAVE RECEIVED AN EMAIL SAYING YOU CAN ATTEND. NO CRASHERS AND NO PLUS ONES ARE PERMITTED. We meet at 10:00 am in Richmond Playground at 18th Ave and depart promptly at 10:15 am. We begin the trek by heading north into the Presidio along Battery Caulfield Road to the Pacific Overlook to take in the water views of the Golden Gate. Next, we turn south to navigate the steps of the Batteries to Bluffs trail, stopping at Marshall’s Beach to enjoy magnificent views of the Pacific ocean and Golden Gate Bridge. From there we continue south through Baker Beach (stopping for a restroom break) and Sea Cliff to reach Lands End. In Lands End we will take the Coastal Trail to Mile Rock Beach where we will stop for lunch. After lunch, we will continue on the Coastal Trail, stopping by the visitor center for a restroom break. Finally, we head east through Lands End, passing by the Legion of Honor as we exit the park and head along Clement St back to Richmond Playground. It is highly likely that we will go to a local bar/restaurant after the hike, somewhere near the ending point. Bring plenty of water, snacks and lunch. Dress for the weather. DirectionsThe meeting spot is at the Richmond Playground Park (by the restroom) at 18th Avenue between California and Lake Streets. To/from Richmond Playground Park: The 38/38R Bus stops three blocks south on Geary Blvd, and the 1 Bus stops one block south on California St. Street parking is freely available near Richmond Playground Park on weekends.
