This presentation – appropriate for beginners and those new to federal records – will explain the ins and outs of federal government records and walk you through how to navigate the National Archives website. We’ll explore the online catalog, and learn how to make connections between the catalog with what's online on Ancestry, FamilySearch, and elsewhere. This event is live at the Oakland FamilySearch Library and on Zoom. If you join on Zoom, please sign in early to make sure you are able to see the program. We will send you instructions the night before, and a reminder shortly before the event, which will give you access. Our remote classes now have live closed captioning. When registering, use an email address you will be checking. Please note all times are Pacific Time. You do not have to have a Zoom account to attend a Zoom meeting. You will be prompted to download the software, once you have clicked on the link that you have been provided. Marisa Louie Lee is a former archivist at the National Archives at San Francisco. She co-authored the article “The A-Files: Finding Your Immigrant Ancestors” published in the Spring 2013 issue of Prologue. Marisa has presented for the California Genealogical Society, Salt Lake Institute of Genealogy, National Genealogical Society Family History Conference (2022), the GRIP Genealogy Institute, and for other local and regional genealogical societies.
