"Giving Thanks" Etegami Paint & Sip Workshop

This Workshop's Painting Theme: Giving Thanks Discover Etegami (絵手紙), the beloved Japanese folk art of creating and gifting hand-painted postcards. Here, imperfection isn’t just allowed - it’s the goal! Join certified Etegami instructors Amy and Andy of Etegami.Love for a hands-on, two-hour introduction to this rich, liberating world of Japanese hand-painted picture-letters. You’ll learn to use traditional sumi ink and gansai watercolors to capture seasonal objects on gasen-shi paper, pairing bold ink lines and bright colors with simple, heartfelt messages. Etegami is a restorative, mindful practice designed for anyone looking to slow down and enjoy a welcoming creative space. Experience a charming side of Japanese art, and leave with several finished pieces of unique postcard art ready to brighten someone's day. All materials provided! Who is This Workshop For? All skill levels are warmly welcome, especially complete beginners! This workshop is designed for adults and older teens (ages 16+) of all creative backgrounds who can comfortably participate in a two-hour guided art experience. If you’ve ever thought you were "bad at art" or struggle with perfectionism, Etegami was made for you! No experience is needed. Just bring your curiosity! Haraz Hospitality & Drinks: Haraz Coffee House is generously opening up their beautiful community space to host our workshop. To appreciate and support our wonderful hosts, we kindly ask that each participant purchase at least one beverage or treat to enjoy during the evening. Please order drinks in a to-go cup to protect the artwork table. Food and beverages are purchased at the cafe counter separately and are not included in the art workshop ticket. We recommend arriving 10-15 minutes early to order your favorite specialty Yemeni coffee, spiced tea, or pastry before we start painting, and/or you can order during our short break midway through class.
