Full description from organizer

Join us at Books Inc Pruneyard to hear two novelists discuss their new books. Scott Lambridis, author of St. Ulphia’s Dead will be in conversation with Yance Wyatt, author of The Watersmith, for an evening of fiction and conversation, moderated by Ben Black, assistant fiction editor at AGNI. The authors will share passages from their new novels and discuss their inspirations, writing processes, and the challenges and pleasures of bringing unusual fictional worlds to life. From science and mythology to dark humor, love, and the unexpected turns a story can take, the conversation will explore what draws writers toward the strange and what happens when they follow it. Bios Scott Lambridis writes literary speculative fiction about the stories people rely on to make sense of the world. He studied neurobiology before earning an MFA in Fiction from San Francisco State University, an unlikely combination that continues to shape his work. His fiction explores belief, consciousness, trauma, and the strange places where psychology, folklore, and love begin to overlap. Before publishing his debut novel, St. Ulphia’s Dead, Scott toured with a progressive rock band, founded an independent press and literary performance series, tended a forty-acre olive farm, and read a book from every country in the world. He lives in Bellingham, Washington, with his family. More at @slambridis or scottlambridis.com Yance Wyatt was born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee. He studied fiction at the University of Cambridge and the University of Southern California, where he has gone on to serve as professor of writing and director of the Writing Center. As fiction editor with The Blue Mountain Review, he seeks to acquire the best new stories from the South. His own stories have appeared in dozens of nationally circulated literary journals and received several Pushcart Prize nominations. The Watersmith is his first novel. His work has been published in Best Microfiction, The Southampton Review, New American Writing, Wigleaf, Harpur Palate, and The Los Angeles Review. His stories have been finalists for the Prairie Schooner Book Prize, the Calvino Prize, the Omnidawn Fabulist Fiction Chapbook Contest, and the Fairy Tale Review Award in Prose. He teaches English and creative writing in the San Francisco Bay Area.
