Advancing Urban Forest Management Through Technology

Explore how tech is advancing the way we care for city trees and green spaces. Join fellow urban forest managers, municipal arborists, planners, and other practitioners to see how advances in tree inventory can help communities make better decisions about maintenance, inspections, budgets, and long-term urban forest management. Hear from CAL FIRE and the City of Santa Cruz about urban forest investments, lessons learned, and opportunities across the region. Then see Smart Tree Inventory in action, including a live field demonstration of how mobile LiDAR, imagery, digital twins, machine learning, and arborist expertise work together to create a consistent, objective, and repeatable record of the urban forest. See how this approach moves beyond a traditional inventory to create a measurable baseline for setting priorities, planning maintenance and budgets, directing inspections, and tracking change over time. Participants will see the process firsthand, from capturing trees in the field to putting the information to work. Lunch and refreshments are provided. ISA CEUs will be available.
