About this event

Jun Liu hosts an in-person Coffee Hour at the 7EDU Impact Academy in Cupertino on Friday, October 23, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The session discusses launching social impact projects, finding meaningful ideas, and what colleges notice about student initiatives.

Full description from organizer

Help your student turn real interests into meaningful impact: finding ideas, launching, and what colleges notice. Live Q&A with Jun Liu. Does your child want to make a real difference but isn't sure where to begin? The most meaningful social impact projects don't start with a polished organization or a big mission statement. They start with a real need, a willingness to listen, and an idea your student can actually put into action. Join Jun Liu, Founder of 7EDU, for a relaxed, in-person Coffee Hour. Jun will share real examples from our students' social impact projects this past summer and walk you through how students can turn their own interests and strengths into meaningful, lasting action, so next summer becomes their most rewarding one yet. What We'll Discuss • What makes a project meaningful: How it differs from traditional volunteering, a one-time service event, or an activity created just for college applications. • Finding a project that fits your child: Possibilities across STEM, health, business, the humanities, the arts, and the environment, and how to match a project to your student's interests and strengths. • Getting started without an established network: How to identify a real need, approach community partners, and choose a realistic place to begin. • Turning an idea into a working project: Research, early testing, feedback, execution, and the adjustments that make a project stronger. • What colleges notice: How meaningful projects demonstrate initiative, empathy, ownership, problem-solving, and sustained commitment. • Lessons from real student projects: How students used the summer to build momentum and develop projects they could continue during the school year. Come with questions! Jun will leave plenty of time for open discussion so you can talk through your own student's ideas and next steps. Who Should Attend Bay Area families of middle and high school students who are planning ahead for next summer, especially those looking beyond traditional summer programs, research placements, and competitions for a more student-driven path. Students are welcome to attend with their parents.
