About the Park: The road leading to the park's 2,800 acres drops from a ridgetop into a deeply shaded redwood forest, offering a hushed getaway from the suburban bustle of nearby Silicon Valley and the South Bay Area. The visitor center, with its couches and fireplace, feels like a wilderness lodge. Eighteen miles of trails follow meandering creeks, where moisture-loving coast redwoods stand tall among ferns and huckleberries. Waterfalls on Fall and Pescadero creeks tumble down mossy banks over rocks and woody debris. About the Hike: Join Sempervirens Fund's volunteer hike leader Gary on this moderate hike at Portola Redwoods State Park through a lush and diverse forest ecosystem. Winding through the heart of the park, this scenic route starts on Iverson and Sequoia Nature Trails, before heading to the quant TipToe Falls. The group will follow Iverson to Old Haul and Summit Trail, before returning back via the TipToe Falls trail. To join this group hike, all participants are required to sign a liability waiver. Good to Know - Highlights Address: Hike will depart from the Madrone Parking Lot, a day use parking lot just up the road from the Visitor Center Please Note: There is no cell service or nearby gas station. Please plan accordingly. Dogs are not allowed at this location. Important Information: • Parking costs $10 (free with State Parks Pass) • Bathrooms and water fountains are available at the visitor center • There is no cell reception and gas stations are far away.
