Join organizers for a reportback on the Jaju Solidarity Brigade's travels across South Korea and the movement against U.S. occupation. Doors open at 2:30 PM. Event begins at 3:00 PM. Please join us for a discussion of the Korean people's struggles against U.S. war, militarism, and occupation and the urgency of our solidarity with the Korean people's movement for sovereignty and self-determination. Few people understand that the United States militarily occupies the Korean peninsula to this day. In August, twenty-six antiwar and anti-imperialist organizers, artists, media workers, and educators traveled across South Korea as part of the first-ever Jaju Solidarity Brigade. They protested outside U.S. bases, visited sites of military atrocities, and learned from local organizers about grassroots resistance against the ongoing U.S. occupation and the impacts of the unending Korean War. This reportback features brigade members from Nodutdol, Freedom Road Socialist Organization, Hui Aloha ‘Āina O Hilo, and the Korea Policy Institute. • Teo Min is an organizer and a member of Nodutdol based in the Bay Area. Nodutdol is an organization of diasporic Koreans and comrades working towards the end of US occupation in Korea and a world without imperialism. Teo helps to coordinate the US Out of Korea campaign and was one of the lead organizers for the Jaju Solidarity Brigade. • Chrisley Carpio is a member of the Central Committee of the Freedom Road Socialist Organization and had the honor of representing the FRSO on the Jaju Solidarity Brigade in South Korea. The FRSO aims to build a revolutionary party in the US that can unite all who can be united against our common enemy, the US imperialists who sit on Wall Street. The FRSO has a long history of international solidarity with both socialist and national liberation movements. Carpio lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and has been working there full time out of the FRSO's national headquarters since 2024. • Puaʻena Ahn is a member of the Hilo Branch of Hui Aloha ʻĀina, which translates to the Hawaiian Patriotic League. Historically founded in 1893 following the overthrow of the Hawaiian Kingdom, Hui Aloha ʻĀina organizes at the intersection of US imperialism, environment, labor, and Hawaiian national liberation and sovereignty. • Christine Hong teaches at UC Santa Cruz where she organized alongside students for ethnic studies and directs the Center for Racial Justice. She serves on the board of directors of the Korea Policy Institute, and organizes with the Ethnic Studies Council at the UC and the UC People's Tribunal for Palestine. She is a core member of the Ending the Korean War Teaching Collective and the Institute for the Critical Study of Zionism. In greater Santa Cruz, she organizes with Pájaro Valley for Ethnic Studies and Justice. Everyone is welcome.
