San José District 9 Community Forum on Data Centers & Standards

Learn about data centers proposed in San José. Speak up about the guardrails you want to protect health, our environment & quality of life. The City of San José has been actively recruiting developers to build new AI data centers in our city. Several have already been approved and there are many more in the application pipeline that will impact residents and businesses across the city. Come learn more about AI data centers and the kinds of guardrails needed to mitigate their impacts on public health, air and water quality, water consumption, noise, artificial light, the climate, energy use & rates, open space, and wildlife. Ask questions and share your concerns with your elected representatives who will attend: D9 Councilmember and Vice Mayor Pam Foley and the two candidates for her open Council seat, Genny Altwer and Gordon Chester. Residents from other districts are also welcome. The City Council will be voting in early December on draft uniform standards for new data centers. This is a key chance to make your voice heard about the protections you want to see! Hosted by local residents and civic organizations, including Mothers Out Front Silicon Valley, Sierra Club Loma Prieta Chapter, Silicon Valley Youth Climate Action, Green Faith, and Fossil Free California.
