Take 6 - Saturday Night Jazz

Take 6: Six voices weaving gospel warmth and jazz fire into a sound that moves like a midnight groove. Take 6 is a pioneering American a cappella ensemble celebrated for its six‑part jazz harmony, gospel foundation, and precision vocal blend. Their sound is defined by complex chord voicings, tight rhythmic phrasing, and improvisational interplay that draws directly from the traditions of bebop, swing, and modern jazz arranging. The group’s ability to layer extended harmonies—often using altered dominants, cluster voicings, and syncopated call‑and‑response lines—has made them a benchmark for vocal jazz groups worldwide. Across their career, Take 6 has earned multiple Grammy Awards in jazz categories, including honors for Best Jazz Vocal Performance and Best Contemporary Jazz Album, underscoring their influence within the jazz community. Their collaborations with artists such as Quincy Jones, Ella Fitzgerald, and Al Jarreau further highlight their standing as one of the most innovative vocal groups of the last four decades.
