Protecting the Land. Inspiring Generations. Join GSNENY and Saratoga PLAN to celebrate the new conservation easement at Camp Woodhaven. 🌲 Come Celebrate a Natural Treasure! Camp Woodhaven Conservation Easement Ribbon Cutting 📅 Tuesday, November 17, 2026 🕚 11:00–11:30 a.m. 📍 Camp Woodhaven, 2015 Alexander Road, Galway, NY Some places are simply too special not to protect. Camp Woodhaven is one of them! Join Girl Scouts of Northeastern New York and Saratoga PLAN as we celebrate the permanent protection of 254 acres of beautiful woodland and natural habitat right here in our region. It's a milestone worth celebrating—and a gift to our community and generations to come. 🌿 Why is this such a big deal? Because protecting this land means protecting so much more! 💧 Clean water starts here. Camp Woodhaven lies within the headwaters of the Glowegee Creek watershed. Protecting its streams and streamside forests helps safeguard water quality and habitat for trout. 🪶 A haven for wildlife. Wetlands and a Great Blue Heron rookery make this property an important home for wildlife. Conserving the land helps keep these special habitats intact. 🌳 A forest worth preserving. Hemlock, pine, ash, and beech trees create a rich woodland environment that supports biodiversity and a healthy ecosystem. 🦋 Bigger than one property. Together with two adjoining conserved properties, Camp Woodhaven helps create a connected landscape for wildlife, contributing to broader ecological connections between the Adirondacks and the Catskills. 💚 A treasure today. A legacy for tomorrow. From its peaceful woods to its streams and wildlife, Camp Woodhaven is part of what makes this region special. Permanently protecting this land means keeping its natural beauty, habitats, and environmental benefits intact for the future. Come celebrate this exciting milestone with us! Meet fellow community members, recognize the partnerships that made this conservation achievement possible, and be part of a moment that will have a lasting impact. Let's celebrate protecting a place that belongs in our region's story for generations to come. Hosted by Girl Scouts of Northeastern New York and Saratoga PLAN. We can't wait to celebrate with you!
