Book Summary: A contemplative collection of 56 stories and poems paired with 73 of the author’s color photographs from the Upper Hudson River, River Time offers a mindful exploration of nature as a source of steadiness and insight. Rooted in years of riverside living and daily practice, the book reflects on how the river became an anchor in times of change and a refuge to return to, showing how the natural world can mirror and support our inner landscape. It invites readers to slow down, open their senses, and experience the clarity and wonder that arise through mindful connection with the natural world. Bio: Susan Meyer is a mindfulness teacher, photographer, and contemplative creative based in Upstate New York. A native of Saratoga Springs, she has lived beside the Hudson River for nearly two decades, photographing its moods, wildlife, and seasonal changes. Her photography has won multiple awards, including recognition from the Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor, and several of her images are featured on kiosks along the Empire State Trail in Schuylerville, NY. She also offers “Photography Along the Canal” classes as part of the On the Canals program funded by the New York State Canal Corporation and New York Power Authority. Susan has practiced mindfulness meditation for nearly forty years and is a teacher on the Insight Timer app. In addition to teaching meditation and nature photography, Susan is the author/illustrator of a children’s picture book Only a Dream and has created self-paced online courses and two inspirational card decks that pair her photography with contemplative insights.
