NYORC Regional Gathering — Capital District

Tell us what blocks outdoor-access work in your region. A 90-minute listening session — your input shapes four free toolkits. The New York Outdoor Recreation Coalition (NYORC) is holding four regional listening sessions this fall. We want to hear, in your own words, what actually gets in the way of outdoor-access work in your region. We'll turn what we hear into four free toolkits for groups like yours. Who should come? Anyone doing outdoor-access work in the region, not just coalition members. Informal hiking crews, meetup and affinity groups, friends groups, land trusts, youth programs, and agency staff. If you get people outside, you belong in the room. What happens? After quick introductions, the room works through four stations, one per toolkit. You write real experiences on sticky notes and vote on which barriers matter most: • Finding the money: funding you went after, or decided not to. • Rules, permits, and paperwork: the barrier that slowed or stopped a project. • Who's at the table: who you need to reach and can't. • Bringing youth in: what would make a youth program work. • Everything on the boards goes into the toolkit drafts, and you'll see the drafts before anything is final. Light food provided. Free. Where? The room is the multipurpose room at Five Rivers Environmental Education Center, 56 Game Farm Road, Delmar. Space is limited to 25 people. Can't make it? The same four questions are available as a short online survey (about 7 minutes): https://forms.gle/FWi1dYwzoNBYPMN78 (en español: https://forms.gle/umR11FK2NAqHpRrs5) This is a listening and education session, not advocacy or lobbying. Supported by a Land Trust Alliance Conservation Catalyst grant, in partnership with the Open Space Institute.
