Soup & Stroll Rev. War Bus Tour

Celebrate the 250th Anniversary of our Country while honoring Revolutionary Soldiers buried in local cemeteries followed by homemade soups. Some of the soldiers who fought in the Revolutionary War are buried in the cemeteries you drive past every day. The Esperance Historical Society invites you to meet them. Our 2026 Soup & Stroll is a guided tour of four local cemeteries and the Revolutionary War veterans who rest there. Most were Schoharie Valley farmers who served in the militia, defending their homes, families, and neighbors. You'll hear about a corporal who was captured in a frontier raid and escaped by lashing two empty brandy kegs into a raft and floating off into the dark. You'll learn about the man who ran the ferry that carried George Washington across the Delaware on Christmas night in 1776. And you'll meet a young officer who stood in the Boston crowd for the very first public reading of the Declaration of Independence. Here's the best part. We're putting the whole group on a private motorcoach and taking you to all four! It's the kind of tour you'd expect to pay for, and we're bringing it to you for free. We’ll finish the afternoon at the Methodist Church's Tiffany Hall with homemade soups and good conversation. The event is free; however, bus seating is limited, so registration is required.
