Cathedrals

Cathedrals inspire awe—not only through towering architecture and scale, but through the way they shape light, space, and silence. Cathedrals have inspired awe for centuries—not only through their towering architecture and monumental scale, but through the extraordinary way they shape light, space, and silence. Join the Kirkland Civic Orchestra for an exploration of music that creates its own sense of architectural grandeur. Lili Boulanger's D'un matin de printemps brings color and vitality; Arvo Pärt's Cantus in Memory of Benjamin Britten transforms simplicity into a powerful meditation on remembrance; and Debussy's mysterious La cathédrale engloutie imagines a great cathedral rising from the depths. The concert culminates with César Franck's monumental Symphony in D minor—a work of immense scale, drama, and sweeping architecture that brings the season to a magnificent conclusion. • Boulanger - D’un matin de printemps • Pärt - Cantus in memory of Benjamin Britten • Debussy - La cathédrale engloutie • Franck - Symphony in D minor
