Full description from organizerShow less
Learn the basics of machine sewing and go home with your very own handmade potholder! No sewing skills are required. Someone on your holiday gift list surely needs a potholder made by you. This is a special Machine Sewing 101 class where you'll learn basic machine sewing skills, and you'll also make a potholder. This will be a beginner-friendly class to learn the basics of machine sewing where you get the opportunity to make a potholder and take it home. No previous sewing machine experience is required. All tools and supplies will be provided by Seattle REconomy. About the instructor, Ava: Former Shoreline Tool Library Coordinator Ava Lim learned sewing from her mother, who was a sewing instructor. Ava then moved on to teaching classes herself at the makerspaces at the University of Washington. She has experience with making all types of items from bags to dresses, and also loves to troubleshoot sewing machines. Our sliding scale for classes helps to reduce barriers for participation while retaining sufficient income for Seattle REconomy, which operates the NE Seattle and Shoreline Tool Libraries and Reuse Commons Lake City. Please choose the level that best fits your household’s income. If cost is a concern, we encourage you to contact us at [email protected] to discuss options. ACCESSIBILITY: • The venue is wheelchair accessible and has an all-gender restroom. The restroom is ADA-compliant. • Non-English and ASL interpreters are not provided at our classes and events.
