HSI course accepted by SC DPH. Learn life saving skills. Basic life support (BLS) class teaches essential lifesaving skills that can be used to help someone experiencing cardiac arrest, choking, or other life-threatening emergencies. The class covers chest compressions, rescue breathing, and proper AED (automated external defibrillator) use. Participants also learn how to recognize the signs of a heart attack, stroke, and choking. BLS certification is often required for healthcare providers, first responders, and lifeguards.
