Breast Cancer- Know It! Screen It! Treat It!

What every woman should know about risk, early detection and treatment. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and OSF Saint Anthony's Health Center invites you to join Dr. Manpreet Sandhu of OSF Moeller Cancer Center for an informative lunch-and-learn on Wednesday, October 28, from noon to 1 p.m. Lunch will be provided. During this session, you'll gain valuable insight into breast cancer risk factors, screening recommendations, early detection, diagnosis and treatment options. Whether you're looking to better understand your own breast health or support a loved one, this presentation will provide practical, easy-to-understand information to help you make informed decisions. At the end of the presentation, you will be able to: • Understand how common breast cancer is and recognize its major risk factors. • Know when and how breast cancer screening is recommended for average-risk individuals. • Recognize common signs and symptoms that should prompt medical evaluation. • Understand what happens after an abnormal mammogram, including diagnostic imaging and biopsy. • Understand the basics of breast cancer biology and staging, including ER, PR and HER2 status. • Learn about the major breast cancer treatment options, including surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, hormone therapy, targeted therapy and immunotherapy. • Understand why breast cancer treatment is individualized based on stage, tumor biology and a patient's unique circumstances.
