GLUT - A World Premiere Play by e.k. doolin

Developed at the Nashville Repertory Theatre’s Ingram New Works Festival, Glut is a sharp, humane exploration of belonging, bodies, the spaces we create, and who we allow inside them. Amos Glass, Interim Executive Director of Nashville Repertory Theatre, said, “With Glut, e.k. doolin gives us a love story that is funny, thought-provoking, and deeply human.” Playwright e.k. doolin adds, “At its core, Glut is a love story about two people trying to celebrate something joyful in a world that keeps narrowing who gets to belong.” Synopsis Glut tells the story of Sarah and Steve, a couple preparing for their wedding who face a challenge far beyond choosing floral arrangements or catering. When one traditional wedding venue closes its doors to “folks of their kind”—more specifically, to people of their size—the pair must confront a world growing less tolerant even as they fight for something bigger: love, acceptance, and the celebration they deserve. With humor and heart, Glut asks audiences to consider the spaces we create, and who we allow inside them. About the Playwright e.k. doolin is a St. Louis-based theatre artist whose work blends humor, hope, humility, and curiosity. A 2024 MFA graduate in Playwriting from Southern Illinois University, she has been recognized by the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival for Running Uphill to Smooth Criminal and Waiting for Hecate (commissioned by Prison Performing Arts). Her work has been developed with the St. Louis Shakespeare Festival’s Confluence Writers Group and Contraband Theatre, where her play Am I Dangerous? premiered in 2024 and received a St. Louis Theater Circle nomination for Outstanding New Play. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch named her one of “5 Playwrights You Should Know” in January 2025. Glut was developed at the Nashville Repertory Theatre’s Ingram New Works Festival (Oct 2025).
