This class breaks espresso down into a practical, approachable, and repeatable brewing method, introducing participants to the equipment, tools, and techniques essential for producing consistent and well balanced tasty shots. Through guided activities and exercises, guests learn how our dial in recipe and grind size influence strength, extraction, and ultimately the flavor of what we can expect when pulling espresso shots. Not only will students begin with fundamentals crucial to just producing espresso they will do so while scratching the surface of troubleshooting common issues like under and over extraction. Intentional tasting exercises help students recognize balance, sweetness, acidity, and body, connecting brewing decisions to the sensory experiences in the final shot.
