Full description from organizer

A conversation in story & song exploring creativity, healing & connection. A Sunday Morning Café event. Join us on November 8 for Creating from the Soul: Story & Song with Javier Mendoza (aka Hobo Cane). In a casual, interview-style conversation led by Dr. Tom Wagner, resilience researcher and therapist for 30+ years, St. Louis–rooted singer-songwriter and storyteller Javier Mendoza (aka Hobo Cane) will share stories and original songs from his 25-year journey as an independent artist. Together, Mendoza and Dr. Wagner will explore creativity, cultural identity, vulnerability, hope, healing, and human connection — with opportunities for guests to ask questions and become part of the conversation. Sunday Morning Café events are like “mini retreats,” featuring live music, a thoughtful, research-informed talk, guided discussions, and refreshments. What makes Dr. Wagner‘s event so wonderful is that it provides an opportunity to unplug from all of that and reflect deeply and meaningfully on what is actually important and what brings us a sense of purpose and fulfillment. You can look forward to an afternoon of reflection, music, laughter, and connection." – Dr. Tim Bono, author of Happiness 201: Simple Secrets to Smart Living and Wellbeing, and popular “Science of Happiness” professor at Washington University About Your Host, Dr. Tom Wagner: Dr. Tom Wagner is a resilience researcher, speaker, writer, facilitator, and psychotherapist known for his refreshingly down-to-earth approach to resilience and spirituality. For 30+ years, he has studied, practiced, and taught evidence-based ways to heal and strengthen the “resilience muscle” through small, daily habits. His practical, time-tested techniques have helped tens of thousands through his counseling practice, workshops, and keynotes. Through his website, SundayMorningCafe.com, weekly Sunday Morning Café blog, and podcast-in-the-making, Tom blends insights from counseling psychology and contemplative spirituality into meaningful, actionable tools for everyday life. SMC events honor that what is deepest within us is most universal between us.
