Guided Paddle along the Cosumnes River

Join experienced naturalists for a leisurely paddle up the Cosumnes River and its peaceful sloughs. Join experienced naturalists for a leisurely paddle along the Cosumnes River and its peaceful sloughs. This unique on-the-water experience offers an opportunity to explore one of California's last free-flowing rivers while learning about the wildlife, plants, and history that make this area so special. Along the way, we'll likely observe a variety of wildlife, including forest birds, raptors, egrets, herons, cormorants, and, with a little luck, deer, beaver, or river otter. Naturalists will share information about the flora and fauna found within this riparian corridor, as well as the history of the Plains Miwok people who once called this area home. Participants must provide their own watercraft (canoe, kayak, or stand-up paddleboard), paddle, and properly fitted personal flotation device (PFD/life jacket). Participants should be comfortable paddling for several hours in outdoor conditions. Please dress appropriately for the weather, bring plenty of water, sunscreen, and any snacks you may need during the paddle. Meeting Location: Cosumnes River Preserve Visitor Center Parking Lot Important Registration Information This is a free program, but space is limited. By registering, you are reserving a spot that could otherwise be offered to another participant. If your plans change, please cancel your registration as soon as possible so we can accommodate those on the waitlist. All registered participants will receive a follow-up email prior to the event asking them to confirm their attendance. You will have 48 hours to respond. If we do not receive a confirmation within that timeframe, your registration may be canceled and your spot offered to someone on the waitlist. A donation link will be included in the confirmation email for those who would like to support educational programs, volunteer efforts, and habitat conservation at Cosumnes River Preserve.
