BridgeMusik Presents: Bach Brandenburg Concertos at Sacred Heart Chapel

Experience Bach’s Brandenburg Concertos Nos. 2, 4 & 5 alongside other works by Bach, performed by BridgeMusik artists at Sacred Heart Chapel Experience Bach in the extraordinary setting of Sacred Heart Chapel in Sparkill, NY. BridgeMusik presents a special afternoon devoted to the music of Johann Sebastian Bach, featuring three of his celebrated Brandenburg Concertos — Nos. 2, 4 & 5 — alongside additional works by Bach, performed by an ensemble of distinguished professional musicians. Featured artists include internationally acclaimed flutist Carol Wincenc; Rachel Ahn, oboe; Tianyu Wang, trumpet; Elliot Figg, harpsichord; and BridgeMusik Co-Artistic Directors Tanya Witek, flute, and Krystof Witek, violin, together with the BridgeMusik Chamber Ensemble. At the heart of the program are three remarkably different Brandenburg Concertos. The brilliant Brandenburg Concerto No. 2 brings together trumpet, flute, oboe and violin as soloists; No. 4 places violin and two flutes in the spotlight; and No. 5 culminates in Bach’s groundbreaking treatment of the harpsichord as a virtuoso solo instrument, featuring Elliot Figg at the harpsichord. The concert takes place in the spectacular Sacred Heart Chapel at the Dominican Convent in Sparkill, New York. Dedicated in 1914, the historic semi-Gothic chapel features a soaring nave, Italian marble altars, beautiful stained-glass windows and a magnificent sanctuary dominated by F. Baraldi’s large Crucifixion painting. Its remarkable architecture and resonant acoustic provide an exceptional setting in which to experience Bach’s music.
