Interlocking, spooky tales unfold on October 31 under the watchful eye of Sam in this sharp, essential Halloween anthology classic. Dir. Michael Dougherty · Rated R · 82 min Interlocking, spooky tales unfold on October 31 under the watchful eye of Sam in this sharp, essential Halloween anthology classic. Michael Dougherty’s love letter to Halloween itself has become a modern classic — an anthology of interlocking stories set on one October 31 in an all-American suburb, presided over by the pumpkin-sacked Sam. Anna Paquin, Brian Cox, Dylan Baker, and a cast of trick-or-treaters, werewolves, and vengeful ghosts populate a picture that treats the holiday’s rules with genuine reverence. Fun, sharp, and mean when it needs to be. The perfect film to close out Halloween night. Bonus! As a special added bonus, before select films, we’ll be screening the new 30th Anniversary 4K restoration of SEASON’S GREETINGS (1996), the creepy cartoon short from Michael Doherty, director of TRICK R’ TREAT (2007), featuring the first appearance of that film’s “Sam” character. Many thanks to Michael and Minor Demons, Inc for allowing us this opportunity to provide you with this bite-sized fright.
