Join us for the second of three sessions on the essential elements of poetry with Juan Pablo Mobili. These can be taken individually. To what degree does the beginning line or stanza of a poem intrigue the reader? Will it draw them to see the whole poem through, attentively, willing to follow it where it leads? We will consider how to write intriguing work without being misleading and how to avoid turning the beginning into an “explanatory" preface. Juan Pablo Mobili, the Poet Laureate of Rockland County (2025-2026) published his chapbook *Contraband* in 2022.
