ROCKAWAY GIRLS PERFORMANCE LAB

Does your daughter already love acting, theatre, performing, making characters, or being on stage? Audition Workshop for Girls Ages 10+ ROCKAWAY GIRLS PERFORMANCE LAB Audition Workshop for Girls Ages 10+ Wednesday, November 18th 4:30–5:30 PM Rockaway Beach, Queens Does your daughter already love acting, theatre, performing, making characters, or being on stage? This playful audition workshop is for girls ages 10+ who are interested in joining the Rockaway Girls Performance Lab, a small six-week improv + acting ensemble beginning in January. This is not a high-pressure audition. Girls will participate in improv games, character exercises, movement, scene work and ensemble activities while getting a feel for the program. The goal is to see how each performer: • listens and collaborates • responds spontaneously • takes direction • makes creative choices • works within an ensemble • brings her own personality and imagination into the room Selection is based less on age and more on maturity, readiness, genuine interest in performance and ensemble fit. A mature 10-year-old may be a wonderful fit. An older teen who loves performing may be equally right for the group. Who is this for? Girls who already feel drawn to theatre and performance. She might be: the kid who is always making up characters the girl who loves school plays the funny one the dramatic one the imaginative one the sensitive one with a huge inner world the performer who wants more opportunities to grow Previous professional experience is not required. What matters most is desire, curiosity, maturity and willingness to play. About the instructor The Performance Lab is led by Shane Kulman, an experienced educator, special educator, children’s yoga teacher and improv facilitator. Shane has spent decades working with children with different learning styles, personalities and needs and creates performance spaces that are structured, playful, expressive and supportive of sensitive and neurodivergent kids. Girls are encouraged to take creative risks without pressure to be perfect. What happens after the workshop?
