Brush Calligraphy Class with Mel Hower

Join us to learn the art of beautiful lettering! Join Mel to learn the basics of Modern Brush Calligraphy! Mel is a self-taught calligrapher who has been practicing the art of Modern Calligraphy for about 10 years. In this class, you will learn the tools and techniques used to create your own personalized holiday card! Included in this class is a short booklet to take home for continued practice as well as all the materials needed to get started in Modern Calligraphy including your own brush calligraphy pen! What is the difference between Modern Calligraphy and Copperplate Calligraphy? Modern calligraphy throws out the strict historical rules of Copperplate calligraphy and allows for more creative freedom! Modern calligraphy is much more beginner-friendly. NOTE: ***Brush calligraphy uses a flexible brush tip that varies line width with pressure, while dip pen used in the November Calligraphy Class uses a rigid nib that requires manual ink dipping and precise angle control for line variation***
