This presentation invites you to think about the use of color, scent, sound and touch in your garden space to enrich your nights. An Enchanting Evening Garden for the Living World Enchantment can grow as we understand night in the garden or really any outdoor space, however big or small. All life responds to the ancient signal of daylight becoming moon- and starlight. For humans, the resulting shift in our perceptions can be magical and even lull us to sleep. The same signal alerts myriad other creatures that it is time to rouse. This presentation invites you to think about the use of color, scent, sound and touch in your garden space to enrich your experience of the evening and support the often-unrecognized work of plants, microbes, insects and animals that ready the world for morning. About Ann Sherwood Ann Sherwood is a cell biologist by training and spent most of her career studying how human cells communicate with their environment. As she approached retirement, she shifted her focus to the world of plants and animals that sustain all life. She has been a Rutgers Master Gardener for 10 years and is on the steering committee of the Monmouth County Chapter of the Native Plant Society of NJ. She enjoys helping people expand their perspective and appreciation of the living world.
