Informal Meditation Meetup for Women and/or Queer Folks

Informal and free gathering of women, non-binary, and queer Tucsonans to explore meditation and mindfulness practices in community. An informal gathering to explore meditation and practices that promote a deeper connection with ourselves and the universe in community. 20-40 min guided or silent meditation followed by reflection, optional sharing, and then optional social time with light snacks. Open to all faiths/spiritualities. Nonjudgemental space for people at all stages of their paths. Kindness, respect, and inclusivity are non-negotiable. Each meetup someone who wishes will share a meditation or other mindfulness practice ( 20-40 min) that can be as simple as playing a recorded guided practice. If short, multiple people can go and share anything from a journal prompt to a poem. Sharing is completely optional and I can always share one of my practices (e.g., metta meditation, yoga nidra, gentle breathwork, etc). Afterwards, there will be quiet reflection and optional sharing/active listening of our experience. People can opt to stay afterwards for socializing with tea and light snacks afterwards. When: 4th Tuesday of every month 6-7 pm starting June 23rd (but schedule could change if needed) Where: My house on (lovingly called the Cosmic Ranch, located near 5th/Wilmot). We can rotate between people's houses if desired. About me: I am a visual artist who greatly benefited from Buddhist teachings (and the teachings of Ram Dass, Tara Brach, Sharon Salzberg) but believe that all faiths were based on a mystic core truth of universal love and oneness that has a tendency to become corrupted by religion. I was part of a meditation sangha in DC before moving to Tucson, where I have struggled to find a spiritual community that feels right for me. Looking to build community :)
