Sonoran Native Plants, a UArizona Campus Arboretum tour.

The Sonoran Native plants tour features the native plants in the Campus Arboretum and celebrates desert ecology. When the University of Arizona was established, Dr. James Toumey, a botanist for the Agricultural Experiment Station, started a cactus display garden that, eventually became what we now know as the Joseph Wood Krutch (pronounced KROOCH) Garden. This tour features the Sonoran native plants in that garden and celebrates desert ecology and ethnobotanical wisdom. Tour starts at the University of Arizona Memorial Fountain, west of Old Main at 8:00 am and last 60-90 minutes. Campus visitor parking is available in campus parking garages for a charge. Please bring water and a hat. Using a rating scale of 1 (least amount of walking) to 3 (more walking), this tour is rated 3.
