Caballero pointed a camera at his Puerto Rican family: the everyday moments, the arguments, the love. Then loss came, more than once. So Caballero and his mother picked up something new—glue, cardboard, and tiny handmade figures of the people and homes they'd lost—and started rebuilding what they couldn't hold onto any other way. TheyDream is a documentary that blends stop-motion, hand-drawn animation, and home-movie footage into a single, tactile record of loss. In the process, he and his mother discover that every act of creation is also an act of letting go.
