Backstage with Don Zientara & Ian MacKaye

A deep dive into DC's punk history and studio lore with Don Zientara and Ian MacKaye Don Zientara and Ian MacKaye met in August of 1980 and have worked together at Zientara's Inner Ear Studios for the past 46 years. This dynamic duo has produced hundreds of recordings for dozens of bands includng MacKaye's own Dischord Records projects which include: Teen Idles, Minor Threat, Embrace, Fugazi, The Evens, and Coriky. Zientara founded Inner Ear in Arlington, VA in the late 1970s and has worked with everyone from Bad Brains to the Slickee Boys to Foo Fighters. The roster holds too many iconic DC bands to name, but here are a few more: Government Issue, Scream, Marginal Man, Rites of Spring, Soulside, Dag Nasty, Half Japanese, Shudder to Think, Bikini Kill, Nation of Ulysses, and S.O.A. with Henry Rollins. NBC4 journalist Mark Segraves will MC, but the conversation will be driven by Don and Ian themselves. Due to the generosity of our guests, all proceeds from this show will go to the Palisades Hub and the After Dark Fund.
