Bad Witch, Good Butch: Mixtape Sapphics’ Halloween Costume Party

Bad witches. Good butches. Femme fatales. Queer icons. Creatures of the night. Or just… yourself. Bad Witch, Good ButchMixtape Sapphics' Halloween Costume Party Saturday, October 31 | 5–10 PM VIBE Restaurant & Lounge 8081 Georgia Ave, Silver Spring, MD 20910 Bad witches. Good butches. Femme fatales. Queer icons. Creatures of the night. Or just… yourself. Bad Witch, Good Butch is BACK — and this year, we're turning it up! Last year, you showed up in some incredible costumes, brought amazing energy, and made Halloween one to remember. So of course, we had to do it again. This year, we're taking over VIBE Restaurant & Lounge in downtown Silver Spring for five hours of costumes, connection, dancing, and a little friendly competition. VIBE is a Black-owned and operated restaurant and lounge bringing together West African tradition, bold modern creativity, and an upscale Afro-fusion dining experience. With its beautiful atmosphere, great food, and vibrant energy, it's a fantastic setting for a Mixtape Halloween celebration. A special selection of VIBE’s most popular menu items will be available for purchase throughout the party. And because it's Mixtape, we're making room for both connection AND a good party. THE NIGHT 5–7 PM | Come In, Get Comfortable, Get Connected We'll start with a quieter playlist so you can grab a drink, enjoy some food, admire everyone's costumes, meet new people, and actually have a conversation without shouting over the music. Coming solo? Perfect. Bringing your friends or your partner? Also perfect. We'll help you feel welcome and get connected. 7–10 PM | DJ VVS Takes Over Then we turn it up! DJ VVS will be spinning for three hours, bringing the music, dancing, and Halloween energy. Whether you're on the dance floor all night or taking breaks to mingle, this is your time to have some fun. Between 7–8 PM | Halloween Costume Contest We know this community knows how to show up for Halloween, and we're ready to celebrate your creativity! It won't be an hour, just within that timeframe. We'll be awarding prizes in three categories: • Gayest Costume — The look that's giving the most unapologetically queer energy. • Most Creative Costume — For the cleverest, most original idea or unexpected interpretation. • Best Overall Costume — The look that brings it all together and steals the show. Bring your creativity, your humor, your drama, or your most fabulous Halloween fantasy. Costumes are encouraged, never required. You don't need to dress up to join the fun, and you definitely don't need to enter the contest. YOUR HOST Samantha, Mixtape's founder, is back in DC for Halloween For those who don't know me, I'm Samantha, the founder of Mixtape Sapphics. I created Mixtape to bring queer women and sapphics 35+ together for friendship, community, connection, and a whole lot of fun. And for those of you who've been coming to Mixtape events, I'm back for this one! I've been traveling and taking some time away from DC, and I've really missed you all. I can't wait to see familiar faces, meet new people, and celebrate Halloween together! Come for the costumes, the dancing, the music, and the community. Or just come because you missed us — because I've definitely missed you! Bad Witch. Good Butch. Great Night.
