The University of Alabama National Capital Chapter, in partnership with the National Alumni Association and UA's Career Center, invites you to Tide Together: An Evening in D.C. Come experience networking, connection, and Crimson Tide pride in the heart of the nation's capital. UA President Mohler is traveling up to join us in person, and to mark the occasion, we want to convene the Tide community in the region - new grads and young alumni, long-time residents, friends of UA, and everyone in between. Consider this the University and the chapter's flagship professional networking event of the fall. Enjoy free drinks and heavy hors d'oeuvres while you catch up with old friends, meet fellow alumni across every class year, and hear from President Mohler himself. Many thanks to the National Alumni Association and Career Center for making this event possible. When: Thursday, October 1, 2026, 6:00-8:00 PM Where: Decatur House, 1610 H Street NW, Washington, DC About the venue Few venues in Washington carry as much history as Decatur House. Built in 1818–1819 for Commodore Stephen Decatur, a celebrated naval hero of the Barbary Wars and the War of 1812, it was the first private residence built on Lafayette Square, standing just steps from the White House. Decatur commissioned Benjamin Henry Latrobe, one of America's first professional architects, to design a home "fit for entertaining." Decatur and his wife Susan hosted lavish parties there for just 14 months before he was killed in a duel in 1820. The house went on to house prominent figures including Secretaries of State Henry Clay and Martin Van Buren, and today it's one of only three surviving Latrobe-designed buildings in the country. It's now preserved as a museum by the White House Historical Association, led by UA alum Stewart McLaurin. Come celebrate what it means to be part of the Crimson Tide family in D.C. Roll Tide!
